Weddings at Kualoa Ranch

A man sitting on a rock in a forested area, with large trees and greenery around, and a grill nearby.

My name is Mike and I’ve been a professional photographer on Oahu for over 12 years, and I’ve seen just about every scenario you can imagine. That experience is what makes me so comfortable photographing weddings. No matter what the day brings, I stay calm, keep things moving, and make sure you get beautiful photos.

When I’m not working I’m usually surfing or skateboarding. I also enjoy playing drums, guitar and pickleball.

Black and white photo of a wedding ceremony outdoors, with a couple walking hand in hand. The bride is wearing a white gown and holding a bouquet, while the groom is in a dark suit with a lei. Guests are seated on either side, taking photos and enjoying the event. Mountains and palm trees are in the background.

Potential clients always tell us, “Your photos look so real. How do you do that?”

The simple answer is that they are real!

Every wedding image we share comes from an actual wedding day with real couples, real guests, real timelines, and all of the real unpredictable and crazy moments that come with them…

A lot of wedding imagery online comes from what’s called a “styled shoot.” These are planned photoshoots with professional models, curated decor, controlled lighting, and plenty of time to create each image. There’s nothing wrong with that approach, but it isn’t really how a wedding day works.

I also shoot commercial photography, so I know firsthand how different the two can be. On a commercial shoot, we have plenty of time to plan, light, adjust, and recreate a shot until everything is exactly right. Weddings don’t work like that…(I wish they did sometimes lol). But that’s also what I love about them! We also don’t have any styled shoots on our website as we don’t really believe that’s a true representation of what a photographer is able to capture on an actual wedding day.

We believe being a good wedding photographer is less about creating the “perfect” situation and more about noticing what’s already happening. It’s knowing where to be, anticipating a moment before it happens, adapting when plans change, and documenting everything in a way that still feels beautiful without turning the wedding into a photoshoot.

Of course, I’ll give you direction during portraits when needed. But for most of the day, I want you to actually experience your wedding while I document it. If that sounds like the kind of wedding photography you’ve been looking for, let’s talk!
