Everything about the day felt intentional and meaningful. The ceremony flowed naturally, and the energy in the room stayed centered on Kevin and the people closest to him. Rather than directing the subjects, my approach is to stay present and document what’s happening as it unfolds, the reactions, the subtle interactions, and the moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. I approach Bar Mitzvahs with more of a documentary mindset. Unlike weddings, where I take a stronger lead and guide the couple throughout the day, these events call for a lighter touch. The focus is on observing rather than directing, and allowing the moments to happen naturally.

After the service, we moved into family portraits. We worked through the essential groupings first, I usually have the client provide me with a shotlist of must have combinations. The setting at the Temple works well for portraits. It’s clean and minimal, which keeps the focus on the people and gives the photos a timeless feel.
