Sasha & Francisco's Golden Hour Engagement Session at Kualoa Ranch Secret Island & Kualoa Regional Park
Some evenings on Oahu just have the perfect light, and Sasha and Francisco's engagement session was definitely one of them.
We spent the afternoon exploring two of our favorite photography locations on Oahu's windward coast: Secret Island at Kualoa Ranch and Kualoa Regional Park. Between the dramatic Ko'olau mountains, quiet beaches, and one of the prettiest golden sunsets, we couldn't have asked for a better setting for their engagement photos.
Engagement Photos at Secret Island, Kualoa Ranch
We started our session at Secret Island, one of the most beautiful locations for engagement photography on Oahu. Tucked along the coastline of Kualoa Ranch, this location has an incredible combination of lush tropical mountains, calm ocean water, and peaceful waterfront scenery.
As the afternoon light softened, the mountains took on a warm golden glow, creating the perfect backdrop for Sasha and Francisco's portraits.
One of my favorite things about photographing couples at Secret Island is the variety of scenery within such a small area. From the wooden dock extending into the water to the open grassy fields surrounded by towering green mountains, every little corner offers something different.
Sasha and Francisco were so easy to photograph together. We kept things relaxed, mixing a few naturally posed portraits with candid moments, walking around, laughing, and simply enjoying the scenery.
A Beautiful Golden Sunset at Kualoa Regional Park
We continued our engagement session at Kualoa Regional Park, just across the road from Kualoa Ranch.
This is easily one of my favorite beaches for engagement photography on Oahu, especially when the evening light cooperates.
As the sun began to set behind the mountains, the entire coastline was filled with soft yellow and golden tones. The light was beautifully diffused through the clouds, giving the photographs a dreamy, nostalgic quality that almost feels like 35mm film.
With the palm trees overhead, Chinaman's Hat (Mokoli'i) in the distance, and the warm colors reflecting across the ocean, it was the perfect way to finish their session.
We captured a little bit of everything, from wide scenic portraits showing off the beautiful Hawaiian landscape to close-up moments that focused entirely on the two of them.
Why We Love Engagement Sessions on Oahu's Windward Coast
One of the best things about planning an engagement session near Kualoa Ranch is being able to photograph two completely different environments in one afternoon.
Secret Island offers dramatic mountain scenery, tropical greenery, and peaceful waterfront views, while Kualoa Regional Park has beautiful sandy beaches, coconut palms, and unobstructed views of Mokoli'i.
Together, they make an incredible combination for couples looking for natural, romantic, and timeless engagement photos in Hawaii.
And when the lighting turns out like it did for Sasha and Francisco, it's even better.
