Pacific Club Honolulu Wedding | Curtis + Peter's Intimate Celebration in Hawaii
Some weddings are grand productions, but my personal favorites are intentionally small, personal, and centered around the people who matter most. Curtis and Peter's Pacific Club Honolulu wedding was exactly that.
With the help of their closest family and friends, they planned nearly every aspect of the wedding themselves, creating a day that felt deeply personal from beginning to end. Every detail reflected their relationship, their values, and the people who matter most to them.
Surrounded by loved ones at the Pacific Club in Honolulu, they exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony filled with emotion, laughter, family traditions, and unforgettable moments. From their beloved dog Gidget delivering the rings to a vibrant lion dance reception later in the evening, every part of the celebration felt uniquely theirs.
As an Oahu wedding photographer, these are the weddings we love documenting most. The focus stays where it belongs: on genuine connection, meaningful moments, and the people who helped shape the journey.
Portraits at Liliʻuokalani Botanical Garden
Before the ceremony, we met up with Curtis and Peter for portraits at one of Honolulu's most beautiful hidden parks, Liliʻuokalani Botanical Garden.
Nestled in a lush valley near downtown Honolulu, the garden offers a completely different atmosphere from many of Oahu's beach wedding locations. Towering tropical plants, winding pathways, bamboo groves, and a beautiful waterfall create a peaceful setting that feels worlds away from the city.
Curtis and Peter were drawn to photography that felt cinematic rather than overly posed, making the garden the perfect location for their wedding portraits. Instead of rushing through a checklist of poses, we focused on creating photographs that felt natural and authentic while giving them a chance to slow down and enjoy a few quiet moments together before the celebration began.
The waterfall area quickly became one of our favorite locations of the day. Surrounded by dense tropical greenery and soft filtered light, it provided a stunning backdrop that perfectly complemented the timeless feel they envisioned for their wedding photographs.
For couples planning a wedding in Honolulu, Liliʻuokalani Botanical Garden is one of the most underrated portrait locations on Oahu and photographs beautifully throughout the year.
An Intimate Wedding at The Pacific Club
Located in the heart of Honolulu, the Pacific Club is one of Oahu's most elegant and historic wedding venues. The combination of classic architecture, tropical landscaping, and private event spaces creates a setting that feels both sophisticated and welcoming.
For Curtis and Peter, it was the perfect place to gather the people who have supported them throughout their relationship.
Guests arrived wearing leis and greeting old friends beneath the property's mature trees and beautifully maintained grounds. The atmosphere immediately felt warm and relaxed, setting the tone for an evening centered around family, friendship, and celebration.
A Ceremony Filled With Meaning
The ceremony itself was filled with heartfelt moments.
As Curtis and Peter exchanged vows, family and friends watched from just a few feet away, creating an intimate atmosphere that made every word feel even more meaningful.
Then came one of the biggest crowd favorites of the entire day.
Their beloved dog, Gidget, proudly made her way down the aisle carrying the wedding rings.
The combination of laughter, excitement, and emotion that followed perfectly captured the spirit of the wedding. Gidget may have been the smallest member of the wedding party, but she quickly became one of the stars of the ceremony.
These are the moments that make documentary wedding photography so rewarding. They can't be staged or recreated. They simply happen, and those genuine reactions become some of the most treasured photographs from the day.
Family at the Center of Everything
One thing that stood out throughout the entire wedding was how important family was to Curtis and Peter.
Everywhere you looked, there were hugs, conversations, laughter, and moments shared between generations. The celebration felt less like a formal event and more like a gathering of people who genuinely loved and supported the couple.
Many of our favorite photographs from the day weren't planned at all. They happened naturally during quiet conversations, emotional reactions during the ceremony, and spontaneous moments throughout the evening.
Those are often the images that become the most meaningful years later.
A Lion Dance Reception Celebration
As the evening continued, guests were treated to a vibrant lion dance performance that brought incredible energy to the reception.
The colorful costumes, rhythmic drumming, and interactive traditions filled the space with excitement and celebration. Guests laughed, cheered, and joined in as the performers moved throughout the room.
The lion dance became one of the highlights of the night and added another meaningful cultural element to an already unforgettable wedding day.
The contrast between the intimate ceremony and the lively reception created a celebration that felt dynamic, joyful, and completely unique to Curtis and Peter.
Cinematic Wedding Photography in Honolulu
One of the things Curtis and Peter envisioned from the beginning was wedding photography that felt cinematic, timeless, and authentic.
Between the lush tropical scenery of Liliʻuokalani Botanical Garden and the elegant atmosphere of the Pacific Club, the day naturally provided countless opportunities for storytelling imagery.
Rather than focusing on heavily posed photographs, we leaned into genuine interactions, natural movement, emotional moments, and the subtle connections that happen between people throughout the day.
The result was a collection of wedding photographs that feel true to the experience itself and preserve not only how the wedding looked, but how it felt.
Why We Love Photographing Weddings at The Pacific Club
The Pacific Club remains one of the most underrated wedding venues in Honolulu.
Its combination of tropical landscaping, historic architecture, private event spaces, and beautiful evening lighting makes it an incredible venue for couples looking for an elegant wedding in Hawaii.
For photographers, it offers a wide variety of backdrops without ever leaving the property. For couples, it creates a relaxed and intimate environment where the focus can remain on the people and moments that matter most.
Congratulations Curtis + Peter
Curtis and Peter's wedding was a beautiful reminder that the most memorable celebrations are often the most personal.
A day planned with care, surrounded by the people they love most, portraits beneath a tropical waterfall, heartfelt vows, a dog carrying the rings, and a reception filled with laughter, culture, and celebration.
Thank you both for allowing us to document such an incredible chapter of your story.
Congratulations again, Curtis and Peter.
We wish you a lifetime of happiness together.
